The Scream
North Cascades National Park, Washington
Behind the Lens: I have three animals that at different times claim the title of my favorite. At times it’s a fox. Other times it’s chipmunks. But when capturing this moment it was pika. While hiking the Maple Pass Loop Trail, I came to a talus slope and could hear them calling out. I spent some time observing the different pikas trying to find one that was more unique than a pika on a rock. Success! I was able to catch this little guy mid scream while he stood on a log with some fantastic fall foliage out of focus behind him.
