Sluiskin’s Veil

Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

Behind the Lens: I made my way to the Sunrise section of Mount Rainier National Park to do a hike to Second Boroughs. When I started my hike Mount Rainier was completely visible but by the time I made it to First Boroughs, the volcano was gone, shrouded by fog. I decided to push on in the hopes that Mount Rainier would re-appear. Those hopes never came to be but I was lucky enough to notice Mount Sluiskin being illuminated between waves of fog. I dropped down between Second and Third Boroughs to get out of the fog. Between waves, I was able to capture this panoramic image of the fog lingering on Mount Sluiskin. Now I just had to complete my 7.7 mile hike to get back to the car.
