Mother Road

Route 66, Arizona

Behind the Lens: Route 66, commonly referred to as the mother road, is a beautiful 2448 mile drive between Chicago, Illinois and Santa Monica, California. My mother always wanted to experience Route 66, so we took 2 weeks to drive from Maryland up to Chicago and then down to Santa Monica and back. Our favorite part of the drive was while driving through Arizona but our absolute favorite section was near the town of Oatman while traveling over Sitgreaves Pass. Standing at the top of the pass and watching the road wind around the curves as it disappears behind the mountain was awe inspiring. An added bonus was how the clouds in the sky mimic the mountain creating a nice balance to the photo.
