Matriarch of the Badlands
Badlands National Park, South Dakota
Behind the Lens: There is one area in the badlands that I always find bighorn sheep. I photographed them earlier in the day but wasn’t satisfied with any of the shots. Right before sunset, I headed back towards the bighorns where I waited for them at the top of a hill that they were climbing. As this ewe made her way to the top, she paused and looked off into the distance. I was able to capture her with the badlands in the background and soft light illuminating the scene.
