A burrowing owl is hunting from a wooden perch in a flower filled meadow in Florida.

Keeper of the Meadow

Florida

Behind the Lens: I was going with my wife and her sister to Florida for a little summer trip. I decided that I would drive down a few days early so I could get in some photography then pick them up from the airport. The main thing I wanted to photograph were the burrowing owls. I did my research as to where I could find them and went searching. At first I had some troubles finding them but after a little time I found two areas with six total owls. There were storms all around the area leading to the darker skies as this owl posed for me from atop his perch overlooking the meadow. The next day I was supposed to pick up my wife at the airport but that never happened. That morning the systems for every airline went down and almost all the flights in the country were grounded.
