A golden mantled ground squirrel stops on the edge of a rock overlooking a boulder field.

Holding the High Ground

Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah

Behind the Lens: I made my way down a beautiful Aspen lined trail towards an area I was told by a park ranger that pika could be spotted at. I was there at the wrong time of day so I knew my chances were low. However, I was able to capture this ground squirrel overlooking the boulder field from atop a flat rock making the hike completely worth it.
