Behind the Lens: While exploring Mesa Verde I could hear thunder in the distance and the sky was getting darker. There would be periods of light rain off and on but it sounded like something bigger was coming. I still wanted to see what I could so I pushed my time to the limits. While heading to the viewpoint for Hemenway House, the risk of getting drenched was worth it. I was able to catch a light ray illuminating the house while a rainbow appeared on top of the canyon. This was perfect timing as 10 seconds later both were gone. As I made my way out of the park, the sky opened up and it stormed hard. The whole way back to the hotel in Durango was nothing but rainbows around every curve.
