A golden larch stands alone in the high alpine with the towering mountains of the North Cascades standing as a backdrop.

Golden Larch

North Cascades National Park, Washington

Behind the Lens: The main reason I chose to head to Washington State at the beginning of October was to capture the golden larches of North Cascades National Park. There are a few trails that show off their beauty but the one I wanted to experience most was Maple Pass Loop Trail. That’s where I captured this golden larch being dwarfed by the imposing mountains in the background. I definitely put in the effort to capture this image near the peak of the trail. 9.6 miles round trip and 2200 feet of elevation gain but completely worth it for the views.
