Feeling Small
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Behind the Lens: I made my way to Mather Point for sunrise. My figured from there you had a wide open view of the canyon in all directions and getting that large scale photo would be easy. I quickly learned that photographing the Grand Canyon isn’t easy. Without something to anchor your scene, you can’t truly capture the scale in front of you. I was fortunate that I spotted this guy sitting out on a ledge overlooking the canyon. I switched to my telephoto lens and lined up this shot. By placing him in the image you can tell just how big the Grand Canyon is and how small we really are.
