A pair of sanderlings look for food on the beach. One sanderling is the subject while one's out of focus.

At the Edge of the Tide

Assateague Island, Maryland

Behind the Lens: I noticed two sanderlings searching the beach just above the tide line for their next snack. I kept trying to get photos but they would come so far then fly off to start their hunt over again. I studied them to understand their pattern then set up my shot. I lied down in the sand and waited for them to come to me when I capture this image.
